You've heard about indefinite detention in the defense bill. But it also contains some eyebrow-raising language regarding the transfer of terrorist suspects to foreign countries.

A defense spending bill that passed both houses of Congress overwhelmingly and is set to be signed by President Barack Obama as early as this week could make it easier for the government to transfer American terrorist suspects to foreign regimes and security forces.


The National Defense Authorization Act (PDF) contains a section that says the president has the power to transfer suspected members and supporters of Al Qaeda, the Taliban, or "associated" groups "to the custody or control of the person's country of origin, any other foreign country, or any other foreign entity." 


That means if the president determines you're a member or supporter of Al Qaeda or "associated forces," he could order you to be handed over to the Saudis, the Egyptians, the Yemenis ("any other foreign country"), any of their respective security forces, or even the United Nations ("any other foreign entity"). Medical Journal Article: 14,000 US Deaths Tied to Fukushima Reactor Disaster Fallout.
Impact Seen As Roughly Comparable to Radiation-Related Deaths After Chernobyl; Infants Are Hardest Hit, With Continuing Research Showing Even Higher Possible Death Count.

 

WASHINGTON, Dec. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- An estimated 14,000 excess deaths in the United States are linked to the radioactive fallout from the disaster at the Fukushima nuclear reactors in Japan, according to a major new article in the December 2011 edition of the International Journal of Health Services.   This is the first peer-reviewed study published in a medical journal documenting the health hazards of Fukushima.

Authors Joseph Mangano and Janette Sherman note that their estimate of 14,000 excess U.S. deaths in the 14 weeks after the Fukushima meltdowns is comparable to the 16,500 excess deaths in the 17 weeks after the Chernobyl meltdown in 1986.  The rise in reported deaths after Fukushima was largest among U.S. infants under age one.  The 2010-2011 increase for infant deaths in the spring was 1.8 percent, compared to a decrease of 8.37 percent in the preceding 14 weeks.

FOX NEWS: Several stars have come forward recently with casting couch tales, saying they were appalled and shocked they were asked for sexual favors in order to get coveted jobs in Hollywood.




But for all of the talk of outrage, few of the alleged perpetrators have been named. In fact, a number of entertainment industry experts and insiders declined to even comment on the hot-button issue when approached by FoxNews.com.


So why are entertainment pros mum when it comes to sexual predators in Hollywood?


"Actors don't name names for several reasons. Many times it is because they want to move on from that unpleasant experience, or perhaps they succumbed to it, or the 'perpetrator' was so huge that they do not want to defame that person because they think highly of their work," Los Angeles-based celebrity psychologist, Dr. Nancy Irwin, told FOX411's Pop Tarts column. "Others don't want to be labeled a 'snitch' or feel nobody will believe them because it is such a cliché. Sadly, the cliché does perpetuate, probably because the creative process in and of itself can be a seductive process, and the temptation is non-stop in Hollywood."


Hollywood-based career strategist Suzannah Galland said she hears many horror stories from friends who are top actresses. These victims don't name names "out of fear," but she says code of silence can turn tragic.


 "Two (friends) have told me of date rapes perpetrated by major male stars. In both cases, these women agreed to a friendly dinner," she said. "One of these friends had no interest in a romantic relationship at all with the star that was pursuing her, and she made that clear to him. All the same she was in awe of the man's talent, and happy to discuss possible roles with him. An alliance would have been hugely helpful to her career. So she was trusting when he invited her after dinner to stop by his hotel, where he had a stack of scripts to show her. Once the door was shut, he raped her. 'I never told anybody,' she explained to me, 'because he is who he is and I was ashamed.'"


Another friend confided to Galland that she was approached by an award-winning actor she found attractive. However, when she went back to his place to "discuss scripts," things took an ugly turn.

Jeg vil fortælle om en pige, som har været "fanget" i det psykiatriske system siden hun flyttede til Viborg for at starte på en frisk.

Mette er det man vil kalde en patient med tilbagevendende indlæggelser med svær depression og psykotiske lidelser som har haft udslag i selvdestruktiv adfærd.Mettes Læge Frank Bang Nissen valgte i forbindelse med en indlæggelse, at isolere Mette i 8 dage i et rum uden seng, gardiner og personlige ejendele.

Efter en sådan isolering var Mette både chokeret og rystet over denne "behandling".

Mette besluttede sig derfor at henvende sig til Frank Bang Nissen, for at gøre opmærksom, at hun havde i sinde at klage over den behandling, hun havde modtaget på Viborg Psykiatriske hospital (3. etage)

For da hun henvendte sig, blev hun på det kraftigste afvist, med den begrundelse at hun udviste truende adfærd.

Efter at Mette havde forladt lægegangen, ringede Frank Bang Nissen til Viborg politi, og fortalte at han var blevet truet idet han påstod, at Mette havde fremsat en skriftlig trussel. Trusselen bestod i at Frank Bang Nissen mente at have set, at der på Mettes hånd stod, at hun var i besiddelse af en pistol.

Ingen politifolk og ingen ansatte på Viborg psykiatriske afd. kunne bekræfte, at en sådan besked var skrevet i hendes hånd.

Anmeldelsen forsagede at Mette igen blev indlagt og isoleret.

Efter at have været isoleret i 4 dage bliver Mette tilset af Læge Karen Olling. Karen Olling er meget bekymret for Mette, da hun påstår, at hun samme dag som Mette blev indlagt, er blevet ringet op af Viborg Politi, som hævder at Mette har kontaktet dem, og givet dem besked om at hun har en pistol, og er på vej op på lægegangen for at skyde læger.

Det får Mette til at bryde sammen, da hun udmærket ved at dette er en løgn.

Mettes netværk kontakter derefter Henrik Nielsen, som er Mettes kontaktperson, for at få bekræftet om Karen Olling virkelig har fremsat en sådan beskyldning, hvilket han ærligt bekræfter ord for ord.

Heldigvis er Mettes venner og familie hurtige til at kontakte Mettes teleselskab, som hurtigt kan afkræfte Karen Ollings påstand om at hun skulle have haft ringet til politiet.

Hele denne sag bliver ignoreret af Viborg Psyk, indtil Mettes tilsynsværge og en bekendt bringer det på bane til et lægemøde. Den daværende læge Andreas Glahn erkender, at han ikke kender noget som helst til sådan en anklage, men lover at følge op på sagen.

Ved det næste lægemøde vælger den daværende læge Andreas Glahn igen at ignorerer sagen, indtil en af Mettes bekendte bringer emnet på bane. Derefter erkender den pågældende læge, at han har haft kontaktet Viborg Politis Paul Østergaard, som afviser, at have modtaget et sådan opkald.

Det ændrer bare ikke på det faktum, at Viborg Psyk har valgt at overføre Mette til et retpsykiatrisk hospital i Risskov (langt væk fra hendes venner og bekendte) i mindst 6 måneder.

OUTSTANDING!! I just left my neighbors house. Devon is with the National Guard for this area. He just got home from a EDRE (emergency deployment readiness exercise) at the armory. He said that during the exercise 3 companies of infantry were polled by questionare about the drill and it's purpose. One of the questions was, will you as a member of the Nat. Guard use lethal force against the American public if ordered to do so? One of the men stepped forward and refused to take the poll and explained that it was a moral judgement on his part and that he could not do so. He then placed his weapon on the ground and fell in behind the formation. Devon said it was like a waterfall, Every member layed their weapons on the deck and fell in beside the one lone specialist. This included ALL NCO's, STAFF NCO's and SENIOR NCO's. The only people left in front of the original formation was 3 Capt's. 2 Lt's and the BN Commander who was so upset he started having chest pains from yelling and screaming about court martials and disbandment of the unit into other units. Devon is a Mstr.Sgt and he went with his troops and told them that he could not be prouder of any of them. He was floating while he was telling me this. Maybe we have more than just hope on our side. I just heard from Devon. He was TX'd by his Plt LDR and advised that the Specialist Who first layed down his weapon is being held in county jail by the Bn CMDR, awaiting a hearing under the UCMJ. Devon couldn't get any more info than that. I don't want to post the mans name until we have more information. I am so upset by this that I am having chest pains. How can they do this to one soldier and not them all. I will let you know how things go. Think I might go lay down for a bit. SEMPER FI.

That is great, sort of, to hear. That the officers wont stand by THEIR oath is troubling. Where is this?

Again, this is unconfirmed, and we are working on confirming it.   Please keep that in mind.  But this is certainly the kind of mass, whole-unit stand-down that may well become necessary, especially in light of the treason of the US Senate, which voted 93-7 to authorize military detention and trial of U.S. citizens - claiming the power to apply the laws of war to the American people in the same way as they are used on a conquered, enemy population, like Iraq or Afghanistan.   While National Guard units can, and have been used for riot control without violating their oath, we suspect that this survey was asking them about whether they would do something far worse than just keep the peace during riots.   We will do our best to get to the bottom of this, and provide all details once confirmed.

If accurate, this is reminiscent of the stand-down during Katrina by SSGT Joshua May's Utah National Guard Unit, where the whole unit let their commander know, in a peremptory refusal, that they would not participate in any gun confiscation:

If Obama does one thing for the remainder of his presidency let it be a veto of the National Defense Authorization Act - a law recently passed by the Senate currently which would place domestic terror investigations and interrogations into the hands of the military and which would open the door for trial-free, indefinite detention of anyone, including American citizens, so long as the government calls them terrorists.


So much for innocent until proven guilty. So much for limited government. What Americans are now facing is quite literally the end of the line. FOX NEWS: Recent Charges of Sexual Abuse of Children in Hollywood Just Tip of Iceberg, Experts Say.
If a spate of recent allegations proves true, Hollywood may have a hideous epidemic on its hands. The past two weeks have brought three separate reports of alleged child sexual abuse in the entertainment industry.

Martin Weiss, a 47-year-old Hollywood manager who represented child actors, was charged in Los Angeles on Dec. 1 with sexually abusing a former client. His accuser, who was under 12 years old during the time of the alleged abuse, reported to authorities that Weiss told him "what they were doing was common practice in the entertainment industry." Weiss has pleaded not guilty.

On Nov. 21, Fernando Rivas, 59, an award-winning composer for "Sesame Street," was arraigned on charges of coercing a child "to engage in sexually explicit conduct" in South Carolina. The Juilliard-trained composer was also charged with production and distribution of child pornography.

Registered sex offender Jason James Murphy, 35, worked as a casting agent in Hollywood for years before his past kidnapping and sexual abuse of a boy was revealed by the Los Angeles Times on Nov. 17. Murphy's credits include placing young actors in kid-friendly fare like "Bad News Bears," "The School of Rock," "Cheaper by the Dozen 2" and the forthcoming "Three Stooges."

Revelations of this sort come as no surprise to former child star Corey Feldman. 
Feldman, 40, himself a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, unflinchingly warned of the world of pedophiles who are drawn to the entertainment industry last August. "I can tell you that the No. 1 problem in Hollywood was and is and always will be pedophilia," Feldman told ABC's Nightline. "That's the biggest problem for children in this industry... It's the big secret."

Another child star from an earlier era agrees that Hollywood has long had a problem with pedophilia. "When I watched that interview, a whole series of names and faces from my history went zooming through my head," Paul Peterson, 66, star of The Donna Reed Show, a sitcom popular in the 1950s and 60s, and president of A Minor Consideration, tells FOXNews.com. "Some of these people, who I know very well, are still in the game."
"This has been going on for a very long time," concurs former "Little House on the Prairie" star Alison Arngrim. "It was the gossip back in the '80s. People said, 'Oh yeah, the Coreys, everyone's had them.' People talked about it like it was not a big deal."

Arngrim, 49, was  referring to Feldman and his co-star in "The Lost Boys," Corey Haim, who died in March 2010 after years of drug abuse.

"I literally heard that they were 'passed around,'" Arngrim  said. "The word was that they were given drugs and being used for sex. It was awful - these were kids, they weren't 18 yet. There were all sorts of stories about everyone from their, quote, 'set guardians' on down that these two had been sexually abused and were totally being corrupted in every possible way."

In fact it is the very nature of a TV or movie set that invites predators, experts tell Fox News.

"A set in Hollywood with children can become a place that attracts pedophiles because the children there may be vulnerable and less tended to," explains Beverly Hills-based psychotherapist Dr. Jenn Berman. "One thing we know about actors, psychologically speaking, is that they're people who like a lot of attention. Kids naturally like a lot of attention, and when you put a kid on a set who is unsupervised and getting attention from someone who is powerful, it creates a vulnerability for a very dangerous situation."

Feldman, who claims he was "surrounded" by pedophiles when he was 14, says the sexual abuse by an unnamed "Hollywood mogul" led to the death of his friend Haim at the age of 38. "That person needs to be exposed, but, unfortunately, I can't be the one to do it," Feldman told Nightline.

"There's more than one person to blame," says Arngrim. "I'm sure that it was not just one person who sexually abused Corey Haim, and I'm sure it wasn't only him and Corey Feldman that knew about it. I'm sure that dozens of people were aware of the situation and chose to not report it."

Arngrim, a board member and the national spokeswoman for protect.org, an organization that works to protect children from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, says greed in Hollywood allows sexual predators to flourish. "Nobody wants to stop the gravy train," says Arngrim. "If a child actor is being sexually abused by someone on the show, is the family, agents or managers - the people who are getting money out of this - going to say, 'OK, let's press charges'? No, because it's going to bring the whole show to a grinding halt, and stop all the checks. So, the pressure is there is not to say anything."

"It's almost a willing sacrifice that many parents are oblivious to - what kind of environment do they think that they're pushing their kid into?" said Peterson. "The casting couch is a real thing, and sometimes just getting an appointment makes people do desperate things."

Arngrim, who revealed her own sexual abuse in her 2010 autobiography, "Confessions of a Prairie Bitch," explains: "I've heard from victims from all over the country. Everyone tells the same kind of story, everyone is told to keep it secret, everyone is threatened with something. Corey Feldman may have opened a can of worms by speaking out, but yes, this does go on."

Even though Feldman spoke candidly about the abuse, he hasn't named the predator. "People don't want to talk about this because they're afraid for their careers," says Peterson. "From my perspective, what Corey did was pretty brave. It would be really wonderful if his allegations reached through all of the protective layers and identified the real people who are a part of a worldwide child pornography ring, because it's huge and it respects no borders, just as it does not respect the age of the children involved."

Alcohol consumed in classrooms, bullying, racism, health and safety breaches, pornographic videos, sexual and physical assaults, abuse of trust, and neglect are just some of the accusations against Oxford & Cherwell Valley College which have surfaced over the last eighteen months.



Nestled in David Cameron's Conservative heartland, this leading college, states that it is the largest provider of further education training in Oxfordshire. According to the web page of college Principal and Chief Executive Sally Dicketts  "We pride ourselves on the fact that we have something for everyone, we are all members of a vibrant and diverse community,R39; and we are passionate about helping each individual to achieve their potential."


Despite this welcoming accolade, former pupils and members of staff accuse Oxford & Cherwell Valley College management of collaborating in a calculated cover-up of a series of perverted and unpleasant activities in the college which started to manifest around 2007.


Allegations suggest that aside from sexual assaults on girls, students were encouraged to drink alcohol in classrooms and were shown pornographic material on college computers - in some cases on the private mobile phones of staff, including images involving children. Boys and girls also suffered bullying at the hands of staff, and those who attempted to warn senior managers of the horrendous activities, were reportedly warned off or pressurised to keep quiet.


Repeated complaints by staff and students did eventually force an investigation, but those present at the college at the time claim that the investigation led by Mr Ray Tregear, was biased so as to protect the college and cover-up the abuses.


Informers also claim that although Thames Valley Police did make some enquiries into abuse and pornography allegations these were low key, incompetent and involved officers working outside normal codes of conduct. Most surprising is that police did not impound computers for detailed forensic examination.


In February 2010 the Oxford Mail newspaper revealed that a Lecturer from the college had been suspended from his employment following complaints that he was showing pornography to pupils. Sources stated that he was later dismissed. It is alleged that this was most likely under a so called voluntary compromise agreement and gagging order. It is also understood that the college has spent some £233,000 on similar compromise agreements since January 2010.


The UK Column has recently learned that OCVC suddenly replaced some 200 computers in July 2010 after the accusations of abuses refused to die down. A local Oxford IT supplier apparently decommissioned the old machines including wiping hard drives.


Oxford and Cherwell Valley College Head Sally Dicketts and Thames Valley Police Chief Constable Sara Thornton are both connected with the Women's Leadership Network and political charity Common Purpose.

The broadcast media's ignorance and unwillingness to cover the National Defense Authorization Act, a radical piece of legislation which outrageously redefines the US homeland as a "battlefield" and makes US citizens subject to military apprehension and detainment for life without access to a trial or attorney, is unacceptable.


Guys, this is far more important than Penn State's Disgusting Creep of the Decade, or even Conrad Murray's sentencing.


Call it what you will: a military junta, a secret invalidation of Americans' civil rights, a Congress gone mad. Whatever it is, it needs to be covered by the press, and quickly.

 
Anderson Cooper, Brian Williams, Rachel Maddow, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Neil Cavuto and the other handful of household names that mainstream America relies on for news should be talking about this non-stop.


I emailed producers and on-air talent at the three major cable news networks yesterday: not one of them was willing to step up to the plate and report on this appalling legislation, which would give Americans roughly the same protections as citizens in China or Saudi Arabia.
